Calculate system pressure
Duct lengths, bends, filters, dampers, silencers and grilles all create pressure losses. The fan must be able to deliver the required airflow against the total resistance of the system.
Choose the correct fan type
Axial, duct, roof, cabinet and centrifugal fans have different operating characteristics. The required airflow-pressure point and installation conditions determine the most appropriate fan type.
Do not overlook environmental conditions
Temperature, humidity, dust, chemical exposure, corrosion and the risk of an explosive atmosphere can change the required casing, motor and protection characteristics. In hazardous areas, a suitable ATEX solution should be considered.
Do not select a fan by maximum airflow alone
The maximum airflow stated in a catalogue is not the airflow the fan will deliver in every system. Correct selection is based on the actual operating point on the fan performance curve.
