What Is an Axial Fan? Where Is It Used and How Is It Selected?

In an axial fan, air moves in a direction parallel to the fan shaft. This configuration is advantageous in applications that require high airflow at relatively low system resistance.

01

How does an axial fan work?

In an axial fan, air moves in a direction parallel to the fan shaft. This configuration is advantageous in applications that require high airflow at relatively low system resistance.

02

Where is it used?

Industrial general ventilation, wall-mounted exhaust systems, duct systems, car park jet fan applications and certain smoke-control systems are common areas of use for axial fans.

03

Why should airflow and pressure be read together?

A high maximum airflow value alone is not enough. The fan must be able to deliver the required air volume at the pressure loss created by the actual system.

04

Installation type affects selection

Installation conditions differ between duct-mounted, wall-mounted and jet fan arrangements. Space constraints, airflow direction, service access and environmental conditions should be considered when selecting the model.

05

Vitlo axial fan family

The Vitlo axial range includes AXD duct fans, AXW wall-mounted fans, AXJ jet fans, AXF smoke exhaust fans and TUNEL-AXF tunnel jet fan solutions.
